It has been dormant to long, walkspoiled with no Golf Information!!!

I have a bunch of data and all of the algorithms for building a golf Leauge DNN module.

I had one back in the DNN 3 days, but it was never cleanly packaged.

Please drop me a comment if you are interested in a Golf leauge Module for use or for helping with the development.

We would use subsonic as the DAL.

Re: Call for developers for DNN Golf Leauge Module using Subsonic

Hey Jim -

I was wondering what was happening with the Golf module. I've always played around with creating a web league manager for a golf league so would be interested in checking out your project. I've used SubSonic since 1.0.0.

Jeremy,

It would be great to combine our resources and get something out by Springtime, We will need something to show off all of the birdies!

Re: Call for developers for DNN Golf Leauge Module using Subsonic

heh - unfortunately my resources never made it further than some database diagrams on the back of a bar napkin. Was your module going to be more of an individual tracking module or a full blown league manager that sets up schedules, calculates handicap, wins/losses, matches, etc?

Think my problem was I was always trying to accommodate for all the different league scenarios, subs, forfeit rules, etc.

Anyway there's still about 4 feet of snow on the ground here and I've got the golfing itch big time so maybe slinging some code on a golf app in my spare time would be a good outlet.

Re: Call for developers for DNN Golf Leauge Module using Subsonic

Jeremy,

I have league standings, and stats for birdies, etc., handicaps.
We would need to add registration and match scheduling.

The original leauge I did this for was a challenge league and people scheduled their own matches. The program calculated the winner using player and course handicaps and strokes using Match Play rules.

The tables are pretty normalized as was the craze at my company in 1999 when I build the original in perl.

Re: Call for developers for DNN Golf Leauge Module using Subsonic

I'm just getting into SubSonic and am already in love with it...but, it's still new to me. I've been working with DNN since Feb 2006, but didn't start module development until about 4-5 months ago. I can do a lot, but am primarily self taught and worry if I've picked up the right habits along the way. BUT - I am highly adaptable, intelligent and more than willing to learn from seasoned developers any chance I can. I would be very happy to help out here - even if just to get some of the mundane or tedious work off your hands. There's much to learn just from being a part of the process. Either way, good luck with the module! Jim, you need to create a new powerpoint about subsonic/dnn integration...the last one left me wanting more info....but, that just means you're doing something right! Thanks for all the great info here on walkspoiled.

About Me

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Jim Bonnie and I have been writing software for over 20 years. After building financial data systems for Reuters for nearly 18 years I have started doing contract work and am excited about technology and currently focus on Microsoft solutions. DotNetNuke has helped provide a good introduction to ASP.NET web application development, and I am now starting to branch out into other areas. Data Access techniques and SubSonic is something that I am looking into now. This has helped me get an invitation to speak at Las Vegas at DNN Open Force 07. it was a great time. And I am looking forward to OpenForce08, where I wil be presenting on TDD for DNN.

Reading the codebetter blogs and attending a nothing but .net training class with JP Boodhoo helped spark my interest in ALT.NET. I attended the first conference in Austin Texas, and it was amazing to see Scott Guthrie introduce the ASP.NET MVC framework.
